Surigao del Norte- DOLE Surigao del Norte Provincial Office released Livelihood Starter Toolkits for NC II Holders worth Php 325,975.00 both mainland and island municipalities of Surigao del Norte.
The sixty-five (65) beneficiaries included seven (7) NC II holders of Electronics Products Assembly and Servicing Program, twenty-one (21) NC II holders of Domestic Refrigeration Air-condition Program, and thirty-seven (37) NC II holders of Electrical Installation Maintenance Program under the technical/vocational education and training of Technical Education and Skill Development Authority (TESDA).
The release of the starter kits in mainland municipalities was conducted on November 17, 2020 at the Provincial Capitol in Surigao City. The event was graced by the Provincial PESO Manager Mr. Emil C. Pantejo, Assistant Provincial Administrator Mr. Simeon Vicente Casterence, and TESDA Representrative Ms. Razel Oralde. Meanwhile, the second batch of release of the livelihood toolkits for the island municipalities was administered on November 19, 2020 at the LGU Del Carmen, Siargao.
The ceremonies also highlighted the orientation of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and the importance of the sustainability of the livelihood grant. The beneficiaries received their starter kits with smile on their faces. They were grateful for the assistance as their additional source of income. Most of these beneficiaries are displaced workers affected by the COVID -19 pandemic.
As of December 10, 2020, DOLE Caraga has released 31.762 Million pesos for 2,658 beneficiaries throughout the region.
The DILP is a program of the government facilitated by DOLE that seeks to contribute in poverty reduction by providing emergency employment and livelihood assistance to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers. Currently, the program prioritizes those who are greatly affected by COVID-19.
