Surigao del Norte– Masgad United Fisherfolks Livelihood Association (MUFLA) of Brgy. Masgad, Malimono, Surigao del Norte received financial assistance in the amount of P 909, 273.00 for the procurement of fishing gears from Department of Labor and Employment on September 2, 2020 at Barangay Masgad covered court.
The turnover ceremony was facilitated by DOLE Surigao del Norte Provincial Office headed by Ms. May C. Velonta, Chief LEO/ Provincial Head with the assistance of Mr. Arnaldo A. Anito, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) Focal Person. The said ceremony was graced by Masgad Brgy. Captain, Ms. Marry Jane Capistrano, MUFLA President, Mr. Harold Sorronda and members of the beneficiary-association.
The members of the association were displaced small scale miners in 2018. In November of the same year, LGU Malimono was given emergency employment slots by DOLE for its displaced small scale miners and Brgy. Masgad was included as one of the beneficiaries. In 2019, thru the Community Support Program (CSP) conducted by the 30th Infantry Batallion and assisted by DOLE- SDN PO, these displaced workers of Brgy. Masgad were organized as Masgad United Fisherfolks Livelihood Association (MUFLA).
“Daghang salamat sa DOLE nga pinaagi sa ilang supporta na aprobahan ang among project. Among paningkamutan nga makalahutay ug maprotektahan namo ini. Sa gihatag nga grasya, hinaut mag tinabangay kami. Sa mga opisyales sa Brgy. Masgad, daghan usab salamat.”, Mr. Harold, MUFLA President, emotional, as he expressed his gratitude during his message.
“Dako among pasalamat sa DOLE Caraga sa pag hatag aning poject. Ipasalig nako nga ako gajud monitoron para malahutayon ang maong proyekto. Andam kami musuporta niini.”, Brgy. Captain Marry Jane Capistrano said, during her welcome address.
The sustainability and progress of the project guarantees enhancement thru the assistance of DILP, DOLE Surigao del Norte, Provincial Office. This is to help in maximizing the community resources, skills, and chance of elevating the community’s livelihood, as per DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) goals.
