After San Roque Metals, Inc. (SRMI) Tubay, Agusan del Norte Management declared temporary work suspension on January 5, 2018 due to the weakened demand for nickel ore and the sudden drop of its market price, DOLE Caraga then composed a Quick Response Team (QRT) and conducted Composite Meeting at Watergate Hotel, JP Rosales Avenue, Butuan City on January 16, 2018.

This was constituted to plan and execute immediate intervention after the effectivity for all the affected workers.  This meeting was spearheaded by DOLE Caraga and Agusan del Norte Field Office. The attendees were from SRMI Management and its contractors (KABRASO, Helping Hand Dev’t Cooperative), Silangan Mining, DOLE Caraga RCC (RTWPB, NCMB, OWWA, ECC, POEA, NLRC PESO-Tubay), TESDA Caraga, DENR Caraga, PENRO-ADN, PLGU-ADN, SSS Butuan and DPWH Caraga.

Starting January 15, the Team will conduct profiling of workers to identify their skills and interest to avail of the following DOLE programs while waiting for the end of the suspension period.

The meeting was conducted to facilitate immediate intervention thru any of the following:


a. Profiling of workers
b. Coordinate with management and labor sector
c. On-site needs assessment
d. Employment Guidance
e. Assist workers in claiming separation pay and other benefits
g. And other assistance or intervention practicable

SRMI Management, DOLE RCC and concerned agencies committed to several immediate interventions to help the displaced workers and their family members.
