The Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) released livelihood starter kits to six (6) beneficiaries from the Municipality of Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands on June 13, 2022. The turnover was facilitated by DOLE PDISO Livelihood Focal Bepu Brylle Bangcoyo, together with DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) Livelihood Development Specialist Jezreel Salino.

One of the starter kits given was the Broiler Production of Ms. Lolita Astorga worth P27,306.00. A sole recipient from Brgy. Ferdinand, Ms. Astorga was thankful for finally receiving the materials and equipment for her livelihood project.

Mr. Reymark Antisod, (Hito Production in Pond), Jovelyn Sabrido (Hito Production in Pond), Feliciano Agocoy (Tilapia Raising), Basel Fritz Lood (Broiler Production), and Carlo Banawan (Broiler Production) also received their livelihood starter kits amounting to P147,199.00 on the same day. As all beneficiaries are from Brgy. Ritaglenda, the turnover of their projects took place at Ritaglenda Barangay Hall, and was attended by Mr. Diaz as well as Hon. Eddie Antisoda, Barangay Captain.

Mr. Bangcoyo reminded the livelihood recipients that though the kits were granted to them by the department at no expense on their end, they must not waste this kind of opportunity given to them. They must seize the opportunity to generate sustainable income for their family.

PESO Manager of LGU Basilisa Rex Diaz, who endorsed the beneficiaries, added that the LGU Basilisa, through PESO, will assist the beneficiaries in ensuring the sustainability of their respective businesses. His office, together with the DOLE and BLGU, will monitor every progress each of the beneficiaries make until they reach the harvest season. Even though the first cycle for their livelihood will end, he committed to continue assisting the beneficiaries up to the next cycle livelihood engagements.

One of the participants Mr. Feliciano Agocoy expressed his heartfelt gratitude, “Nagapasamalat ko ug dako sa PESO Basilisa, labi na sa DOLE, sa tabang na ilang gihatag kanamo. Hinaot nga padayon pa mu ug tabang sa amo, kay ako siguraduhon nga mulambo ni akong gamay nga negosyo.” Mr. Agocoy also promised that he will do his best to improve his livelihood project.
