Agusan del Sur— The Department of Labor and Employment- Agusan del Sur (DOLE-ADS) Provincial Office conducted a series of Career Guidance Advocacy Program at Bayugan National Comprehensive High School (BNCHS), Bayugan City on November 6 and Agusan del Sur National High School (ASNHS) on November 8. About 1000 Grade 12 students and parents from BNCHS while more than 400 from ASNHS participated in the activity.

“In the advent of Philippine 4.0, the job market became highly competitive and demanding. It is a necessity for all to be updated, be informed, and be equipped with knowledge on the trends in the world of work, updates on the labor market, and processes involved in pathing and choosing one’s career,” Miss Minda Teposo, the school principal of BNCHS said to the participants relating her statement to the theme of the activity—PH 4.0: Preparing for a Digital Ready Workforce.

The DOLE-ADS Provincial Office Head Jocelyn L. Bastareche presented the Labor Market Information and the National Skills Registry Program. She also conducted career coaching and labor education to the graduating Senior High School students came from Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand, Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand who participated the activity.

At ASNHS, the students and parents pointed out questions regarding labor market information and labor trends to Miss Bastareche during the open forum.

“It is important for us to know this kind of information for us to have a glimpse of what we should expect and to consider once we are to choose our career,” one of the ASNHS students said.

The Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP) is one of the flagship programs being implemented by the Department as employment facilitation intermediation services to provide the youth with relevant information that could guide them in making informed career choices.
