SAN JOSE, DINAGAT ISLANDS – The Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands’ (PDI) 33rd Charter day celebration highlighted the Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office’s (DOLE PDISO) job fair and livelihood releases.

The job fair was conducted last November 10-11, 2022 at Sta. Cruz Gymnasium, Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands. During the two-day job fair, the office turned over a cheque amounting to Php 899,000.00 to the Local Government Unit of San Jose for the identified 26 DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) regular proponents and 5 parents or guardians of child laborers. The sum was given to LGU-San Jose as Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) to procure the items, equipment, and jigs necessary for the beneficiaries to jump-start their respective livelihood projects.

Ms. Linda A. Abaratigue, a resident of Brgy. Aurelio, San Jose, PDI also received items and supplies worth Php 30,000.00 for her “Takeout Breakfast and Snack Services” livelihood project. Ms. Abaratigue was a former household maid of Senator Loren Legarda who decided to return home and was displaced during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was referred to the department by the office of the Senator herself for livelihood assistance to ensure she can continue generating income for herself and her family.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa DOLE dahil sila po ang naging tulay para makatanggap ako ng Kabuhayan package. Malaking tulong po ito sa akin at sa aking pamilya (I would like to thank DOLE for they became the bridge for me to receive this livelihood package. This is a huge help for me and my family),” Ms. Abaratigue said.

San Jose Municipal Mayor Hon. Yngwie Hero B. Ecleo was present during the turnover. He recognized the close collaboration of DOLE with the LGU and PESO and thanked the department for consistently providing livelihood opportunities to his constituents and for its contribution to making the event a success.

As one of its major sponsors, DOLE PDISO headed by Ms. Buhawe Corvera-Correa also awarded the eleven candidates of Ilaw ng Tahanan 2022 with livelihood gift certificates ranging from Php 15,000.00-30,000.00.
