Butuan City – The Mediation-Arbitration and Legal Service Unit (MALSU) of the Department of Labor and Employment – Caraga facilitated the entitlement of underpayment of basic wages to at least 623 workers of Richmond Plywood Corp., Philippines Softwood Product Inc. and United Wood Industries Inc. amounting to a total of P4,467,889.67M.

On February 11-19, 2019, 149 workers received their entitlement checks from MALSU with an aggregate amount of One million one hundred ninety-nine thousand three hundred sixty-two pesos and eighty-six centavos (P1,199,362.86).

Of the 623 workers, Mr. Reyanan Tripon of the United Wood Industries Inc. has the biggest claim and is expected to receive P17,0155.73.

Based on the mandatory conference agreement, the amount represents underpayment of basic wages; underpayment of premium pay on rest day; non-payment of regular holiday pay; underpayment of overtime pay on regular day; underpayment of night shift differential pay on regular day; non-payment of 13th month pay; and non-payment of service incentive leave pay.

Another schedule of payment is set for the rest of the 474 workers to cover the full claim in the amount of at least P4.4M.
