TALAVERA, TAGANA-AN – Eighty (80) security guards coming from the Greatest Praetorian Guard Security Inc. accountable for underpayment of wages to their 80 security guards deployed at Hinatuan Mining Corp. (HMC) collectively received a total of P2, 037,280.00 thru the Surigao del Norte Provincial Office (SDNPO) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-13) as payment for their salaries and wages under the supervision of the provincial head, May C. Velonta.
Each of the security guards received a total of P25, 466.00 which comprises P23, 730.00 for underpayment of wages and P1, 736.00 for the holiday pay.
During the joint assessment at HMC last September 2017, the labor laws compliance officers (LLCOs) found out that the principal company has 7 contractors and subcontractors, of which one has the violation.
“This is just one of the many efforts employed by the Department in resolving cases and resulting to mutual agreements for both the employees and the employers in the provinces,” said May C. Velonta, provincial head of SDNPO.
