The Province of Agusan del Sur has new 70 Certified First Aiders after a successful Occupational First Aid Training on February 11-12, 2020 conducted by DOLE Agusan del Sur Provincial Office in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Agusan del Sur chapter.
The 2-day rigorous training was participated by 70 representatives from different establishments of the province. Modules discussed included basic first aid techniques, actual bandaging, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), operation of the Automatic External Defibrillator 9AED) and patient handling. The trainees underwent a qualifying exam and simulation which were one of the highlights of the activity. Their performances were evaluated and all were certified as First Aiders.

“I am very fortunate and happy to be part of this training. The things I learned is useful not only in my work but also at home. The training was not only for compliance and certification but for our personal enrichment because we learned new skills. I am grateful to the Philippine Red Cross and DOLE-ADS for organizing this training.” As reflected by Mr. Leopoldo C. Cinco, III, a participant from PRC Agusan del Sur.
A Certified First Aider proportionate to its total number of workers and the risk or hazard in the workplaces is a requirement of the Republic Act 11058 or An Act of Strengthening Compliance with Occaptional Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof. Every establishment should have an equip personnel to administer proper first aid to casualties in times of accidents, disasters and emergencies.
