SURIGAO CITY – Some 51 workers and employers from various microenterprises in Surigao City joined the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office’s (DOLE SDNFO) 1-day Labor and Employment Education Seminar (LEES) at the Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City.
The topics delved into labor relations, labor standards, productivity, R.A. No. 9178 “An Act to promote the establishment of Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs)”, provision of incentives, benefits, etc. discussed by DOLE SDNFO Head Ms. May C. Velonta, Senior LEO Mr. Brix C. Merlin, Supervising LEO Mr. Cornelius C. Mahinay and RTWPB XIII Board Secretary VI Earl De La Victoria.
One of the event’s attendees, TEAHUB Distributor owner Ms. Vevilyn M. Basco, shared her insights from the training, “Dako nga tabang nga naka attend ko sa ing-ani nga programa tungod kay nahibalo ako sa mga angay nga madawat sa akong mga trabahante. Nakabalo na pod ko ug dugang nga mga pamaagi og stratehiya sa pagpa uswag sa akong gamayng negosyo.”
The DOLE LEES is one of the department’s programs that ensure workers and employers are aware of their rights, responsibilities, work ethics, values and skills to develop better labor-management relations and attain decent and productive work.
