The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office awarded P497,564.00 worth of livelihood aid to the Hugpong Siargao Massage Therapist Association (HSMTA) for their “Massage Supplies and Equipment” project in General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

The assistance was in response to the request of HSMTA thru the Presidential Action Center on 2021. HSMTA President Ms. Adorita Corpuz was grateful for the release as it supports their plan of establishing a Massage Spa on the island since tourist activities are starting to flourish. She also shared the struggles of the massage therapists in providing for their families during the pandemic and the aftermath of Odette. Ms. Corpuz shared that the livelihood assistance would surely help them recover financially.

“Dako akong pagpasalamat sa Ginoo nga gigamit nga instrumento ang DOLE nga makatabang sa amoa pinaagi sa livelihood assistance. Among siguraduhon nga dili kini mapasagdan ug molambo gayud. Salamat kaayo DOLE,” words of gratitude by HSMTA President Adorita Corpuz.

Present during the release was DOLE SDNFO DILP focal person Jul Christine G. Manseguiao, DOLE SDNFO Livelihood Development Specialist (LDS) Regie Mae B. Deberto, HSMTA President Adorita Corpuz, and HSMTA Secretary Elvie G. Corpuz. The event was also joined by the local government unit of General Luna as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) represented by Vice Mayor Dr. Romina Rusillon-Sajulga, Municipal Councilor John Christopher C. Silvosa, Municipal Accountant Annielyn Bacalla, Municipal Treasurer Marites Barba, and the PESO Manager Designate Rose Minguita.

DOLE SDNFO continues to provide support services to the displaced and disadvantaged Surigaonon workers through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
