The DOLE-Surigao del Sur in coordination with the Province of Surigao del Sur will be celebrating Labor Day in the province and is set to conduct the first “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” (TNK) Job and Business Fairs on May 1 and 2, 2017 in Tandag City and in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur respectively.
DOLE-SDS Field Office’s aim in celebrating this year’s Labor Day celebration with a theme “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago” is to provide progressive jobs not only for formal workers but also to our informal sectors workers. Likewise, this is part of the DOLE’s intervention to those displaced mining workers due to impending closure of the mining companies.
On May 1, the celebration will be held at the Tandag City Plaza right after the Mass and the Motorcade around the City. Livelihood assistance will be awarded to six (6) people’s organizations from Lanuza, Tago and Hinatuan.
On May 2, a total of 29,560 overseas and local job vacancies have been solicited to join the Job and Business Fairs in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.
This event will be participated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the business advocacy, Social Security System (SSS) and other government agencies specially the DOLE- Regional Coordinating Council Members which include TESDA, RTWPB, POEA, OWWA, NRCO, NCMB, NLRC, ECC, PRC and PESO for their other services.
A Labor-Management Education Seminar will then be provided to SMEs in Tandag City, Tago and San Miguel area for the updates on the General Labor Standards of the other social benefits for the workers.
