DOLE once again flaunt its humanitarian act through TUPAD’s PRLEC on Wheel on November 5, 2019, in La Paz and November 6, 2019, in Prosperidad.

The PRLEC on wheels was deemed successful through the joint efforts of  the Municipal Government of Lapaz, Municipal Government of Prosperidad, TESDA- Agusan del Sur, DTI- Agusan del Sur, PESO- Agusan del Sur, CDA-Agusan del Sur, NCIP-Agusan del Sur, 401st Infantry (Unity) Battalion, 26th Infantry Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Battalion and 544th Engineer Battalion that ensures a smooth conduct of the activity.

Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa ating Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) is one of the Programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides Emergency Employment for displaced underemployed workers.

From the two Barangays (Brgy Lydia and Mabuhay) of the Two Municipalities (La Paz and Prosperidad), a total of 101 Indigenous People (IP’s) and Former Rebels (FRs) will be benefitting from this program. Being one of the members of the Poverty Reduction Livelihood Empowerment Cluster (PRLEC), DOLE through its program for Livelihood and Employment, will carve a mark on the lives of this people. It is for their lives to be stable and for them to feel that the government is very serious in its commitment to terminate the years of long armed struggle that benefitted no one but only the loss of lives and properties.

With the program of DOLE, as well as with the other partner agencies, it will inculcate in the minds of the surrenderers and peasant workers that there is no life waiting atop the mountain, thus, the Government is willing to give its very best to stop this local armed conflict and impart on the the minds of young that armed struggle is not the way to battle poverty. It is the stable livelihood, employment, and the willingness to pursue a better life.

Through various programs offered by the National Government Agencies, we can eradicate the wrong principles of the Leftist group that brainwashes young people to go against the government. Nationwide Peace is all on its way out if we could continuously sustain these initiatives and build a harmonious and productive place to settle.

Mayor Michael D. Lim of La Paz said, “I am very happy for this PRLEC on Wheels and to the DOLE Agusan del Sur for choosing Barangay Lydia as the recipient of the TUPAD program. I am very optimistic on the development of Barangay Lydia on the succeeding years, and for future programs provided by the DOLE to alleviate poverty, promote productivity, and end local conflict and armed struggle. Projects like covered courts are on the top list for the next year waiting for budget. I also hope that these programs brought by the Government will make a change and improve our way of life to settle for peace and prosperity.”

One of the TUPAD beneficiaries said, “I am very grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of this DOLE TUPAD employment. It is indeed a great help to us in everyday expenses. Also, we are flattered that almost all Government agencies are here in our Barangay to showcase each program to us. We are very fortunate. We are very hopeful that this will not be the last program to be implemented in our place. We are very blessed that the Government is not ignoring us instead helped us to rise again and eradicate doubts and confusions in ourselves and be able to live up a new productive life. Thank you very much to all of you”
