As part of the 2022 Labor Day celebration, DOLE SDNFO facilitated a whole-day program for the Workers of the Informal Sector (WIS) in Siargao, Surigao del Norte.
There were 28 participants comprised of members and officers from eleven (11) associations of farmers, fisherfolks, massage therapists, and tour guides from the municipalities of General Luna, Burgos, Pilar, San Isidro, Dapa, and Socorro. These are Brgy. Consuelo Coconut Farmers Association, Hugpong Siargao Massage Therapist Association, Siargao Islands Tour Guides Association, Tawin-tawin Farmers Association, Daruhan Patag Integrated Farmers Association, San Roque Farmers Association, Del Pilar Makugihon Fishing Association, Dona Helene Empowered Fishermen Association, Island Paradise Farmers Association Inc., and Unified Farmers and Fishermen Association. Six (6) of these associations have already received DOLE livelihood assistance.
The discussions included the Registration of Workers Association (RWA), Department Order 173-17, and Basic Information on Livelihood Proposal Making. Also, lectures on Financial Literacy and Productivity were especially intended to aid the associations in the operations of their livelihood grants.

Salamat DOLE,” expressed by Daniel Adrian Camingue, President of Siargao Island Tourist Guides Association.
DOLE SDNFO continues to initiate activities that promote the welfare of the workers in the province including those from the informal sector.
