In celebration of the 30th Filipino Family Week, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE-RCC) headed by DOLE Caraga Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao visited the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Home for Girls to deliver gifts to the shelter. The gifts include rice, canned goods, hygiene kits and other items for the twenty-four Alay Para sa Mga Bata beneficiaries.
Home for Girls is a residential facility that provides protection, care, treatment and rehabilitation to abused and exploited girls below 18 years old. Center Head Designate Sarah Rose M. Salingay thanked the DOLE-RCC for the presents and expressed enthusiasm for DOLE and DSWD’s future partnership, “Thank you kaayo sa mga gifts ninyo para sa mga bata. First time namo ni diri na ma-partner ang DOLE ug unta magpadayon pa puhon puhon.”
The girls also expressed gratitude by showcasing their talents in a welcome song.
“Kauban sa atong Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, ania karon ang DOLE ug ang among pamilya sa RCC aron ipa-abot ang among kinasingkasing na gugma kaninyo. Duol sa among kasingkasing ang mga kabataan ug hinaot mabati ninyo nga daghan ang nag palangga kaninyo,” RD Suyao said.
He also encouraged the beneficiaries to continue reaching for their dreams despite life’s difficulties, “Kabalo ko na lain lain gyud tag gi-again sa atong kinabuhi pero ang importante kay maningkamot ug mu-laban ta aron makab-ot nato atong mga damgo sa mga umaabot na panahon. Salamat kaayo sa opportunidad na kami makahatag kaninyo ug gagmay’ng tabang. Hinaot unta makatabang ni among gihatag sa inyong pang-adlaw adlaw na panginahanglanon.”
The gift-giving activity was joined by DOLE Caraga OIC-Assistant RD Raymond Fel F. Sajor, Technical Support Services Division Chief Annie C. Tangpos, PRC Director Cheryll P. Elicano and RTWPB Board Secretary Earl D. Dela Victoria who also left words of inspiration and encouragement to the girls.
The Regional Coordinating Committee is composed of attached agencies under DOLE: National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board (RCMB), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), and Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The Filipino Family Week is a week-long celebration honoring the Filipino family as a pillar for the growth and development of the country. DOLE-RCC will remain in close coordination with DSWD Caraga to ensure that the children are given opportunities to attain their goals and aspirations.
