7,030 typhoon Odette victims in the province of Surigao del Norte are provided with emergency employment through Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantages/ Displace Workers (TUPAD). Each worker received P 3,200.00 for a 10-day work which covers house cleaning, rebuilding homes, road cleaning, and de-clogging of canals with the total financial assistance of P 23 Million.

“Dako akong pasalamat nga nakadawat dayon kami ug hinabang pinaagi sa TUPAD sa DOLE. Gamiton namo kini nga kwarta para pagtukod pag-usab sa among panimalay ug pagpasig-uli sa among panginabuhian nga nawala,” expressed by Danilo Gelsano, a typhoon victim in the municipality of Socorro.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao has lauded the effort of DOLE Surigao del Norte employees and TUPAD coordinators for their extraordinary job in facilitating the employment of the affected workers and for speedy processing of the salaries and wages of the beneficiaries.

TUPAD is an institutionalized, community-based amelioration program aimed at helping displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers during calamities, both natural and man-made.
