In celebration of the 2022 World Day Against Child Labor, the Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) through its Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) conducted a One-Day Information and Educational Campaign Against Child Labor last June 9, 2022 at Brgy. Wadas Function Hall, Municipality of Dinagat, PDI. The activity aims to raise awareness on CLPEP and its thrust to the participants.
Present in the event were officials of Barangay Wadas, headed by Brgy. Captain Hon. Rogelio Mancio, and twenty-eight (28) parents of child laborers.
CLPEP Community Facilitator Nelson Cardenas discussed the distinction between child work and child labor. Other topics tackled were the program’s mission, vision, and guiding values as well as the strategic framework for 2020-2022 with its intermediate outcome. Different programs in the department for parents or guardians of profiled child laborers were also presented during the campaign. One of such programs is the Kabuhayan para sa Magulang ng Batang Manggagawa (KASAMA) which aims to provide parents/guardians access to decent livelihood opportunities for enhanced income.
Hon.
As the activity concluded, DOLE PDISO together with Barangay Wadas stands in fighting against child labor and will work hand in hand in its prevention and elimination. This activity is planned to be replicated among other barangays in coordination with the LGUs MSWDO and PESO offices.
