The DOLE Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (PDISO) conducted program orientation and provided assistance to five (5) associations in the remote communities of Brgy. Del Pilar, Cagdianao, Province of Dinagat Islands to avail the livelihood program of DOLE.

DOLE PDISO, headed by Officer-in-Charge Mr. Verlan V. Diaz and his staff visited Brgy. Del Pilar in response to the request of Brgy. Captain Mr. Efren Eupena on September 4, 2020 to conduct orientation on the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) and registration of rural workers association. They were accompanied by LGU Cagdiano PESO Manager Ms. Salome M. Pegoro, Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Sufenia B. Chua, and BFAR-PDI Representative Ms. Fecel C. Salas.

As a result of the orientation, a worker’s association was organized in Barangay Del Pilar. Aside from the orientation, simultaneous site validation and visits were also conducted for the following projects submitted to DOLE for funding: Snack and Refreshment in Sitio Hinabyan and Dried Fish Production of Sampaguita Women’s Association. The Yellow Bell Women’s Association and Manogligao Farmers and Fisherfolks Association were also visited and given guidance as to feasibility of projects to be established.

Monitoring activities were also carried out to include the recent Pumpboat and Fish Pots Project of Del Pilar Farmers and Fisherfolks Association, which amounted to five hundred seventy-three and nine hundred sixty pesos (Php 573,960.00).

The five (5) associations which were given technical assistance were very appreciative of the effort of DOLE in reaching them out especially because they are situated in the remote area. Although the communities visited are several miles away from the Municipality of Cagdianao wherein transportation and communication lines are difficult making basic government services seemed inaccessible, DOLE PDISO was not hindered in carrying its commitment of making DOLE’s programs and services available.
