SURIGAO DEL SUR – 415 DOLE Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries from Surigao del Sur received free Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) training during their TUPAD engagement period.
As part of their 10-day TUPAD employment period,148 beneficiaries from Barangays Poblacion, San Vicente, Antao, Puyat, Sta. Cruz, Cancavan, Esperanza, and Hinapoyan in Carmen, Surigao del Sur were provided with onsite community-based training on Special Puto Cheese Making from November 23-25, 2022. A trainer provided by TESDA, Mrs. Beatriz Mellina, imparted the whole process of puto cheese making to the beneficiaries while stressing the importance of hygiene and sanitation during the entire process.
Moreover, 267 TUPAD beneficiaries also from Barangays Poblacion, San Fernando, Tabon, and Mangagoy, all of Bislig City received onsite community-based training on Longganisa making on November 23, 24, 29, and 30, 2022, which is within their 10-day TUPAD engagement period.
TUPAD beneficiary from the Municipality of Carmen Jonalyn Fernandez expressed her gratitude for being part of the training. She shared her thoughts on starting a puto cheese business to augment her family’s income. She was delighted that the training came in time as the Christmas season is fast approaching and puto cheese is one of the Carmenanons’ favorite delicacies.
The intervention provided by TESDA Surigao del Sur Provincial Office is the result of their collaboration with the department, which aims to provide additional skills to the TUPAD beneficiaries for future livelihood or enterprise development.
As TUPAD beneficiaries also expressed interest in availing other skills training from TESDA SurSur, the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) continues to closely coordinate with TESDA to cater to the training needs of the beneficiaries. (RAG, TPDC/DOLE SDSFO)
