On July 4, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) released over P 1.93M worth of livelihood and restoration assistance to four (4) associations from the Municipalities of Basilisa, Cagdianao, and Tubajon.
Two (2) of the associations received cheques for the restoration of livelihood greatly affected by the TS Odette. Panginabuhiang Mahigalaon sa Kinaiyahan (PMK) Association from Brgy. Navarro, Municipality of Basilisa received five hundred thousand pesos (Php 500,000.00) for their Bangus Production project and Barangay San Jose Farmers and Fisherfolks Association (BSJFFA), Brgy. San Jose, Municipality of Cagdianao for their Deep-Sea Fishing project received four hundred thirty-three thousand six hundred thirty pesos (Php 433,630.00).
The two (2) remaining cheques were released to the Fisherfolks and Agricultural Farmers Association in Sitio Tabok (FAST) from Brgy. Imelda, Municipality of Tubajon and the Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Roxas (NAMARO) Association from Brgy. Roxas, Municipality of Tubajon. FAST received five hundred thousand pesos (Php 500,000.00) for their Lobster Production project, and NAMARO received four hundred ninety-eight thousand two hundred thirty-three pesos (Php 498,233.00) for their Deep-Sea Fishing project.
DOLE PDISO Head Buhawe B. Corvera-Correa facilitated the conduct of the activity. Mr. Jaypee B. Bag-ao, LGU-Tubajon PESO Manager, and Mr. Ronald Luib, LGU-Tubajon Municipal Administrator, with representatives of the two (2) livelihood associations received the cheques for FAST and NAMARO. Meanwhile, Hon. Isidro C. Josol, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Navarro, Municipality of Basilisa with the barangay treasurer and association president Mr. Fejie Rovira received the cheque for PMK. Mr. Antonio Petallar with a representative from BGLU San Jose, Municipality of Cagdianao, received the cheque for BSJFFA.
The turnover of cheques coincided with the celebration of the province’s founding day as well as the launching of One Dinagat People’s Fair. It is a special day of commemorating the resilience of the Dinagatnons who are gaining back their footing after the devastation of Odette.
Mr. Ronald O. Luib said, “Ako mapasalamaton ug nalipay og dako sa mga ing-ani nga higayon kung diin naa na usab na mga tawo ug asosasyon ang matabangan sa DOLE piniagi aning livelihood nga ilang gihatag. Ako manghinaot nga dili lang tana dinhi taman, ug daghan pa untana ang matabangan sa DOLE piniagi sa paghatag ug livelihood sa mga lumulopyo ug mga residente sa Dinagat Islands.”
