January 9, 2019, Madrid, Surigao del Sur – DOLE-Surigao del Sur Provincial Office released livelihood assistance to the Local Government Unit of Madrid, Surigao del Sur for the livelihood project of Bagsac Multi-Purpose Cooperative entitled “Acquisition of Mini Rice Mill”. Hon. Mary Grace S. Kimura, Municipal Mayor of LGU-Madrid, personally received the check amounting to P266,632.00. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment for the assistance extended to the organization. She said that the organization is known to be successful in other projects given by other funding agencies. Moreover, Barangay Captain Madel Dumahug, also committed to closely monitor the implementation of the project. He is optimistic of the success of the project because there is no existing rice mill in the area. He also said that in the future, they will propose for the provision of a mini corn mill to better serve the need of the farmers.
“We promised to take care of the project because it is their commitment to Mayor Kimura. Once the livelihood assistance is released, we will take the necessary actions to ensure the proper implementation of the project”, said Brgy. Captain Madel Dumahug.
The officers also expressed their appreciation to the DOLE as well as to the Local Government Unit of Madrid through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Ms. Adelinda O. Pelandas, for the support extended to the association, of which they will be closely monitoring the said project.
