With the aim of ensuring full labor law compliance, the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) intensifies the conduct of Continuing Labor Education Seminar (CLES) and labor inspection.

For the first semester of 2022, DOLE SDSFO inspected over 100 establishments in the province. The DOLE Inspection program further strengthens the implementation of the visitorial and enforcement powers of DOLE towards securing a higher level of compliance with labor laws and standards, ensuring continuity and sustainability of compliance at workplaces.

Prior to the inspections, a CLE seminar is conducted to representatives of business establishments on their rights and obligations as employers. As of June 2022, one hundred twenty (120) representatives from private establishments attended the CLES— eighty (80) participants from Bislig City and forty (40) from Hinatuan. Topics on the General Labor Standards (GLS), particularly wages, leaves, and other special welfare benefits are discussed, including the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHC).
