The Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Field Office (DOLE PDISO) conducted a Labor Day Celebration for Workers in the Informal Sector (WIS) with the theme “Manggagawa sa Impormal na Sektor, Matatag na Ugnayan Tungo sa Matatag na Pagbangon” last June 30, 2022.
The activity, in cooperation with the Local Government Units and Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) from the different municipalities, was participated in by eighteen (18) representatives from various associations held at the Langit Function Hall, Brgy. Poblacion, Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands.
The department’s programs and services were presented during the activity. One of the programs discussed was the Registration of Workers Association (RWA). The participants were oriented on how a worker’s association acquire legal personality as well as the duties and responsibilities of the association and its officers and members.
The activity highlighted the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) for marginalized and vulnerable workers in the informal sector, with emphasis on the step-by-step process of project proposal making and the evaluation.
As the activity concluded, the speakers recognized the associations’ efforts in their desire to avail of the DOLE livelihood assistance. DOLE PDISO reminded the attendees that after granting the livelihood assistance, proper care and implementation are to be ensured by the associations. The participating associations shared their learnings during the training. They took note of the good practices shared and vowed to take good care of livelihood assistance granted to them.
