The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) recently conducted the 2022 Labor Day Celebration for the Workers in Informal Sectors (WIS) on June 30, 2022 to acknowledge the social and economic contributions of the workers in the province.
Twelve associations joined the event: Ayoke Conservation Enterprise, KASAMA KITA Association from the Municipality of Cantilan, Nagpakabana Pag-amping sa Kinaiyahan Association from LGU-Tandag City, Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Matho and Madrelinio Fisherfolks Association both from LGU-Cortes, Mararag Mothers Association and Marihatag Tricycle Drivers Operators and Organisasyon ng mga Kababayen-an sa Alegria from LGU-Marihatag, Balungkanadan Abaca Farmers Farmers Association and Indigenous People Former Rebel Returnees Associations from LGU-San Miguel, and Cagwait Tricycle Drivers Associations from LGU-Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.
The program highlights the discussions on the Registration on Workers Association (RWA), guidelines of the department’s livelihood programs, financial literacy, and sustainable livelihood framework including the basics of bookkeeping and proposal making, and livelihood grant release.
9 Bikeccination program beneficiaries received items and equipment amounting to P224,862.50. For their Kakanin Food Businesses, Mr. Felmar Ohao, Ms. Victoria Ababan, Mr. Erwin Buo, Mr. Rolando Huerta each received P24,997.50 worth of livelihood grant. P24,997.50 worth of livelihood aid was also awarded to Mr. Virgilio Martinez for his Hairdressing Business, Ms. Marla Martinez for her Peanut Peddling Business, and Ms. Sheila Elimanco & Ms. Lylah Montera for each of their Balut Businesses. Meanwhile, Mr. Alfredo Plaza received assistance amounting to P24,962.50 for his Viand Cooking and Selling.
During an interview, one of the beneficiaries shared her heartfelt thanks to the department “Ako dakong pasalamat sa kining makanunayong hinabang gikan sa DOLE, dili gayud masukod an ako kalipay from the moment na naka dawat ako nan tawag sa DOLE na kining akong gipaabot na livelihood grant kay mahi released na sa kuman na katigayunan, salamat kadayaw sa DOLE tungod sa kadamu na niyo na tabangan ug ako isa ngadto,” Ms. Marla Martinez stated.
DOLE SDSFO will continue to cater to the needs of its clients and promote welfare both in the formal and informal sectors.
