October 12, 2021 – 100 youths recently completed the 10-day Life Skills Training (LST), a component of the JobStart Philippines program of the Department of Labor and Employment. The graduates received their certificates during the completion ceremony held on 12 October 2021 in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
DOLE Caraga Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao graced the completion ceremony held at the PNP Covered Court in Brgy. Patin-ay and expressed his gratitude to Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. and other key Officials for implementing the JobStart Philippines program in the province. He emphasized the primary purpose of the program to provide employment facilitation services to out of school youth, unemployed and those who are not in training. He added that Jobstarters are expected to complete the three phases of JobStart Philippines program from Life Skills Training, Technical Training and Internship in the work premises of partner-employers.
“Dako akong pasalamat sa DOLE sa opportunidad nga gihatag sa ako para mahiapil sa Jobstart Program.” (I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a beneficiary of the Jobstart Program). These are the words of Ms. Marisol Cocamas , one of the jobstarter.
The activity was also attended by Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr. He acknowledged that the most important resource is human capital. By embracing the program, it will really help the jobstarters to take the next step in growth and innovation. “It is not the high or the low position that you are working for. Wala sa ka taas or kaubos sa imong position kung dili, kung unsa’y imong buhaton while you are in that position,” Cane said.
Life Skills Training is a 10-day training designed to holistically develop the soft skills – behavior, attitude and values of JobStart trainees to enable them to plan better their career path and deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life and work.
The implementation of the 2021 JobStart Philippines in the province is fully funded by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur.
