In preparation for its transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 standard, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Caraga Regional Office in coordination with Info Advance Inc. conducted an internal audit training (IQA) on January 23 to 26, 2018.

The activity was dubbed as the “Comprehensive IQA Training for ISO 9001:2015”. Sixteen (16) members of the DOLE Caraga Quality Management Team (QMT) and eleven (11) supervisors and key process owners were specifically chosen to undergo the said training. Info Advance’s Lead Trainer Rhea M. Candelario and Facilitator Mary Louise F. Garcia handled the four-day session which includes lectures, workshops, and a written exam. It culminated with a Mock Audit on selected processes.

The five areas focused on during the Mock Audit were – the Top Management; Special Program for the Employment for Students (SPES); Competency-Based Training for DOLE Personnel; Procurement of Goods and Services and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program. At the end of the activity, audit results were presented and evaluated by the Team leaders of the different groups who conducted the audits.

Out of the 50-item written exam, Blessil Betsy B. Suarez, Genebelle B. Bal and Annie C. Tangpos topped it with 49 points, followed by Lilian M. Solis and Giovanni S. Paredes with 48 points and 3rd placers were Olga Virginia A. Demata and Rhium Truce Salvador with 46 points.

“You are the cream of the crop. We have invested time, people and effort because we believe that this is important. We want to be better. We want to satisfy our clients. At the end of the day, we did all our best and we celebrate success for every endeavor. We are committed and we want sustainability”, said Chona M. Mantilla, DOLE-Caraga Regional Director in her message during the opening of the training.

“DOLE Caraga is already on its way to readiness in transitioning to ISO 9001:2015. I have seen professionalism in the mock audit, all adheres to the dress code and applied the knowledge in the 2015 training through quoting the standards. Also, I have seen enthusiasm in learning the 2015 version. Indeed, you have embraced what RD Mantilla told us to be the ‘drivers’ of standard”, said Rhea M. Candelario, Info Advance’s Lead Trainer.

ISO 9001 is a standard that sets the requirements for a quality management system. It helps businesses and organizations to be more efficient and improve customer satisfaction.

DOLE Caraga has been recertified under ISO 9001:2008 last December 2017 but is intensifying preparatory works to transition to the more recent version that is 9001:2015.

The IQA training held at the Lime and Zest Kitchen in Butuan City is only one of the several preparatory consultations and activities undertaken by DOLE Caraga for the transition.
