42 representatives from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Agusan del Sur were certified as Safety Officer 1 during the recently conducted Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training for Safety Officer 1 at Mabe’s Savory Place, Brgy. 1, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

The trainees represented Lending Corporations, Retail and Wholesale, Stall Meat Shop, Banking and Finance, Cooperatives and Food Products, and the Government Sector such as Local Government Units (LGUs) and Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs).

DOLE ADSFO OIC-Head Maximo C. Magallen discussed the Introduction to OSH and OSH Legislations while OSHC Caraga-OIC Engr. Christian Lee Jaguit and Labor Inspector Engr. Rey P. Dumalaba oriented the participants on Safety and Health Hazards and Control Measures, Emergency Preparedness, Basic Safety and Controls, H.I.R.A.C, COVID-19 Safety, and Training of Trainers.

Juvelyn Corro of Motortrade San Francisco Branch expressed her gratitude to the training hosts, “I am very thankful to the facilitators and speakers from DOLE Agusan del Sur and OSHC Caraga. They are all knowledgeable in their field. I learned a lot in every discussion such as workplace safety, good housekeeping, accident investigation, and even the updates on Global OSH. I wish we could join more trainings.”

As part of the department’s mandate to promote and maintain health and safety in workplaces, DOLE ADSFO will continue training more establishments in the province on OSH and develop them into OSH Champions
