DOLE Agusan del Sur Provincial Office initiated the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the front liners of COVID-19 in the province through the program of Tulong Panghanapbuhay for Displaced/ Disadvantage (TUPAD) Workers.

The initiative was in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Agusan del Sur, Public Employment Services Office (PESO), Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), and Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades (ASSAT).

The TUPAD beneficiaries were the fifteen (15) TESDA certified sewers who were among the displaced workers affected by the implementation of the flexible work arrangement or temporary closures of establishments due to the General Community Quarantine in Agusan del Sur. Further, their wages were also assisted by the financial augmentation program of the province.

The PPEs crafted included jumpsuits, boots and hoods. Production started on March 27, 2020 with a target of 150 PPEs to be distributed immediately to the front liners. Raw materials and other logistics were provided by the Provincial Local Government

COVID-19 is pandemic disease which currently affects thousands of Filipinos. With the rising cases of infection and death in the country, efforts for prevention are continuously pushed by private and government entities including provision of PPEs to the medical front liners.
