After over a year of waiting, Brgy. Wadas in the Municipality of Dinagat, Province of Dinagat Islands received its first livelihood assistance that was granted to Wadas Fisherfolks Association (WAFA) under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
A pump boat and two (2) baby boats for the Yellow-Fin Tuna Fishing Livelihood Project worth Php 479,000.00 was turned-over to WAFA on March 15, 2021.
During the turn-over ceremony, Brgy. Capatin Rogelio O. Mancio commended the efforts of LGU-Dinagat PESO Manager and DOLE PDI Satellite Office in assisting the association to ensure the successful approval of their livelihood project, “Sa gidugayon nga panahon ni abot na gyud ang grasya sa paningkamot sa atong PESO Manager, Ms. Jeraldine Camporedondo ug DOLE PDI Satellite Office. So, nia nakita na nato ang pump boat and duha ka baby boat.” (For a long time that we waited, the blessing of the livelihood assistance has been granted through the efforts of PESO Manager Ms. Jeraldine Camporedondo and the DOLE PDI Satellite Office. So now, we already have a pump boat and two (2) baby boats).
WAFA President, Mr. Jessie Andoy, expressed his gratitude and desire to expand the livelihood grant, “Dakong pasalamat namong tanan sa association kay nay niabot sa amo gikan sa DOLE. Hinaot unta nga amo pa ini madungagan para mapa-improve pinaagi sa atong paningkamot uban sa mga opisyales sa organization.” (The entire organization if very thankful to DOLE for the livelihood grant. We hope that we will improve and sustain the project through the efforts of all the members and officials of the organization.)
The Municipal Vice Mayor of Dinagat, Hon. Petnel Sombrado was also present during the turnover. He reminded the association to effectively manage the livelihood project so that it will grow and sustain, “Kini ang sinugdan sa pagsiguro nga kung kini masakto ang pagdumala additional trabaho nga ikatabang ug additional income nga makapangawarta ang atong katawhan pinaagi ani nga programa.” (If the livelihood will be managed well, it will generate additional jobs that will result to an additional income for the entire community).
The turnover was the fourth livelihood grant in the Municipality of Dinagat for DILEEP-Kabuhayan, Group Category. With the continuous support from the Local Government of Dinagat as well as the barangay officials, the DOLE PDISO is positive that this will not be the last.
