The DOLE family demonstrated the spirit of “Bayanihan” (teamwork) by helping its personnel from DOLE Surigao del Norte Province Office after typhoon Odette hit the said province last December 16, 2021.
DOLE Caraga Regional Office and nearby provincial and regional offices immediately responded to the need for food and potable water. The DOLE Regional Office personnel donated more than P10,000 worth of food packs including rice, canned goods, drinking water, alcohols, medicine, and some used clothes while personnel from DOLE Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur provincial offices gave food packs, water, and cash donations.
It is also worth mentioning that DOLE SDN personnel who are not from Surigao del Norte lent a helping hand to their co-workers. Food packs worth P28,700 were given: DOLE SDN Provincial Head donated P15,000 worth of goods, and three personnel from DOLE Regional Office gave a total of P13, 700 cash donation.
Moreover, personnel from DOLE Region 9, 10, and 11 sent their assistance both in cash and in kind. Several private companies, employers and individuals across the region, friends and families of the affected DOLE personnel also extended help.
DOLE SDN, especially non-regular employees, were grateful for the assistance received.
“Salamat kaayo sa hinabang nga gihatag sa akong mga kaubanan sa DOLE. Dako ni nga tabang para sa akong pamilya labi na sa kalisod karon nga naapektuhan mi sa bagyo. Sa kani nga pamaagi, gipakita nga naa gihapoy paglaum bisan pa sa gibuhat ni Odette”, says Airon Mohammad. Airon’s house was completely damaged by the typhoon.
The generosity of the entire DOLE family shows the kind of culture and values the department inculcates, that is being genuinely accountable to each co-worker especially in times of crisis and hardships. This also reflects the sincerity and genuineness of each DOLE personnel in fulfilling their commitment of government service.
