Surigao del Sur –The Department of Labor and Employment, Surigao del Sur Provincial Office (SDSPO) in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Local Government Unit of Barobo, Surigao del Sur, conducted a One-day Seminar on the Revised Rules in the Enforcement and Administration of Labor Laws and Wage Order No. RXIII-15 to more than 60 participants coming from both public and private establishments. The activity was held at Curato’s Eatery and Catering Services, Barobo, Surigao del Sur on June 13, 2018.

The activity aimed to ensure employers’ understanding on the employee benefits and workers’ awareness on the enforcement power of the DOLE provided under Article 128 of the Labor Code, as amended. The participants were guided on the steps in the conduct of inspection as well as the basic requirements such as General Labor Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Social Welfare Benefits and the New Minimum Wage in Caraga. Moreover, in the province it is also expected that an increase in the compliance rate shall be achieved by the end of December 2018.

Topics included Administrative Order No. 183, Workers’ Basic Rights, Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Wage Order No. RXIII-15, Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity, Family Welfare Program and Kasambahay Law.

The seminar served as an avenue for the participants to seek clarifications on matters concerning employer-employee relations. Facility evaluation, the conduct of release of wages, policy on the number of working hours, and others were also tackled.

The participants expressed their gratitude to DOLE because the seminar did not only give them additional knowledge in terms of the inspection program and the benefits of the employees but also an opportunity to raise their concerns pertaining to the disciplinary actions to the erring workers.
