Tandag City – To continually improve the department’s delivery of services, DOLE Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) recently conducted its Continuing Labor Education Seminar participated by 63 micro establishments from the province.

The seminar highlighted topics on General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards including the registration of OSH Rule 1020, and the details on the First Time Jobseekers Act and the Free COVID-19 Testing for Newly Hired Employees. The topics were delivered by DOLE SDSFO Labor Inspectors: Ms. Romelyn Bactol, Mr. Anthony Dumapias, and Mr. Ian Kit Lovete.

In her message, DOLE SDSFO Head Genebelle B. Bal emphasized the importance of providing labor education to the Labor Sector and the Business Sector in order to maintain a harmonious relationship and productively contribute to national development. Ms. Bal also shared the role of the Government, Labor Sector, and Business Sector as the country’s tripartite pillar of industrial peace.

Representatives from the Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund also presented their respective programs and emphasized the importance of the cooperation of the employees and employers in achieving a well-rounded social benefits system in the country.

The metamorphosis of the world of work requires the continuous streamlining of learning activities to ensure the cognizance of the rights and responsibilities of the management and labor in fostering a more cooperative and productive relationship in the industry.
