The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) released Php 24,964,800 as salaries of the 5,201 Tulong Panghanapbuhay para Displaced and Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers in Congressional Districts 1 and 2, Surigao del Norte.

P10,454,400.00 was released to 2,178 displaced and disadvantaged workers in five municipalities of Siargao: (1) P1,920,00.00 for 400 beneficiaries in LGU Del Carmen; (2) P2,390,400.00 for 498 in LGU Sta. Monica; (3) P2,280,000.00 for 475 beneficiaries in LGU Pilar; (4) P1,944,000 for 405 beneficiaries in LGU San Isidro; and (5) P1,920,00.00 for 400 beneficiaries in LGU San Benito. Meanwhile, 3,023 beneficiaries in Surigao City received their salaries amounting to P14,510,400.

Each beneficiary received P4,800.00 for fifteen days of work rendered. Their work comprised of various community services such as gardening, de-clogging of canals, tree planting, and cleaning of public areas.

TUPAD is a community-based program of DOLE that provides emergency employment to displaced and disadvantaged workers, the underemployed, and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days.
