Lipata, Surigao City—165 participants from private and mining sectors (principals, contractors and sub-contractors) attended the Orientation cum Seminar and Tripartite Forum on the Department Order 174 last May 17, 2017 at Almont Beach Resort, Brgy. Lipata, Surigao City.

DOLE Caraga Assistant Regional Director Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos was one of the resource speakers for the said forum. She thoroughly discussed the amendment of D.O. 174 which includes the possible interventions to the would-be affected workers in the mining sectors and those private establishments in which legal matters on employment and rights of workers should properly be observed and that they also need awareness and factual information of ending contractualization.

Ms. May C. Velonta, OIC/ Provincial Head of SDN Provincial Office and Mr. Verlan V. Diaz, Sr. LEO/ Provincial Office of PDI Satellite Office put into words about the roles of PESO Managers as our partners in strengthening the DOLE Programs, including overview on Jobsfit Program. It also established closer linkages among DOLE Regional Office, various PESO Managers and Network of Career Coaches. DOLE Issuances: Alien Employment Permits (AEP) had been shortly discussed in the forum.

The program has become an effective tool to extend the awareness to the employment rules and build the capacities of the companies’ goals of employment, workers protection and compliance to the labor standards. It is also an effective tool to extend awareness to the employers and employees where employment relationship exists.
