Of the 520 registered job applicants, 161 were Hired-On-the-Spot (HOTS) during the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga’s 2022 Labor Day TNK Job and Business Fairs recently held at Robinsons Place Butuan.
Construction, food, accommodation, manpower, and manufacturing industries posted the highest number of new hires.
Ms. Windelyn Durango, an OFW from Saudi Arabia who recently returned to the country was the first to get a job as a housekeeper in Big Daddy Hotel and Convention Center. “Blessed kaayo ko na nadawat ko ani na Job Fair. Wala ko nag expect na madawat on the spot. Wala naman gud ko nakabalik sa abroad tungod sa pandemya, mao nga naningkamot ko nga makakita ug trabaho dinhi sa atong lugar” Ms. Durango said.
In an interview, DOLE Caraga Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao congratulated all newly-hired applicants and welcomed them to the world of work.
“To our new workers, we hope that you would do good in your jobs. Take this opportunity to acquire new skills, improve yourselves and prove your worth. In due time, you will be experts in your field and reap the good results of your investment,” RD Suyao said.
RD Suyao thanked all the employers and partners for their support in the job generation program of the government. DOLE Caraga will conduct another TNK job and business fairs with partners in the private and public sectors on June 12, 2022, in celebration of this year’s Independence Day.
