DOLE Caraga participated in the nationwide Kalayaan Online Job Fair on June 12-15, 2021 in celebration of the 123rd Philippine Independence Day.

The online job fair was facilitated thru the online platform of Mynimo Inc. All participating employers and applicants registered in the official website of Mynimo. Steps on how to apply were provided and was easily accessed.

16 local employers in Caraga with a total of 627 job vacancies registered in the event. Companies from mining, construction and supplies, manufacturing and retail across the region participated. Majority of the job posts are for skilled and technical positions. These included engineers, heavy equipment operators, electrician, painters, and other skilled and technical works found the mining and construction industries. Other vacancies are from job categories of health and science, accounting and finance, BPO, education, human resources, information technology, legal, logistics and purchasing, and in marketing and retail.

153 applied to the local job posts and 19 were considered near hires. These are shortlisted applicants considered for hiring but were not hired on the spot because the employers wanted the final screening on a face-to-face basis.

Simultaneous with the online job fair is the release of salaries for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program facilitated by DOLE Caraga provincial offices. A total of P667,200.00 was released to 139 beneficiaries on June 14, 2021 in Surigao del Norte and the Province of Dinagat Islands.

DOLE Surigao del Norte Provincial Office (DOLE SDNPO) also conducted an Orientation on Mission RACE Program to newly hired Local Heroes and Interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP). Mission RACE Program. Labor Market Information (LMI), Public Employment Information System (PEIS), and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) were discussed during the orientation.

The Kalayaan Online Job Fair and other activities of DOLE Caraga for the celebration for the 123rd Philippine Indepence Day was a success through the efforts of its personnel and the support of the PESOs, and the local employers.

DOLE Caraga adapts the new normal by embracing innovations like online job fairs to continue to act to its commitment of employment facilitation in the region amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
