100 young workers in Claver, Surigao del Norte recently completed the 10-day Life Skills Training (LST), a component of the JobStart Philippines Program of the Department of Labor and Employment.
DOLE Caraga Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao graced the completion ceremony held at Sitio Capangdan Gym, Claver, Surigao del Norte and expressed his gratitude to the local chief executive of Claver for implementing JobStart Philippines in the municipality. He highlighted the importance of life skills training to enable the youth to effectively handle issues and problems commonly encountered in the world of work. He added that Jobstarters need also to acquire hard skills that will take place during their Technical Training in order to be ready for the Internship phase of the program.
The graduates completed the 37 modules of the training with close monitoring from DOLE Surigao del Norte and PESO Claver.
Part of the program was the turn-over of three (3) Laptop computers and one (1) printer to Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Claver. The graduates also received tokens and Php 3, 000.00 stipends for completing the 10-day life skills training.
JobStart is a full cycle employment facilitation service of the Department of Labor and Employment designed to enhance the employability of at-risk youth to improve their integration into productive employment. Trainees are required to undergo life skills training, technical training and internship. LST is designed to strengthen the youth’s personal values and skills to help them become successful jobseekers. Due to the pandemic, the LST is delivered via online platform and consists of 37 modules. The program is also designed to increase the capacity of the Public Employment Service Office in providing full cycle employment facilitation services.
