BUTUAN CITY – Over 300 career guidance advocates composed of teachers, guidance counselors, student leaders, PESO managers, and LGU representatives attended the 2022 Regional Career Advocacy Congress (RCAC) conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga Region on November 25, 2022 at LMX Convention Center, Butuan City.
Echoing the theme, “Learn. Adapt. Thrive: Rising Above Employment of Challenges of Post-Pandemic Future,” the program aims to capacitate the participants on the country’s current labor and employment landscape in the hopes of helping the Filipino youth navigate the world of employment.
This initiative featured learning sessions from distinguished speakers on topics such as Higher Education Opportunities for Students in the New Normal by CHED Caraga Project Technical Staff/Unifast Regional Coordinator Heidi M. Paradero, TESDA: Responding to the Demands of the Times by TESD Caraga TESD Specialist Chiselo Joiada R. Bernaldez, Digital Transformation in the Labor Market by DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment Labor and Employment Officer Evangeline G. Aviñante, Navigating Careers thru 12 S of Stress Management by Former DOLE Caraga Regional Director & Labor Attaché Atty. Johnson G. Cañete, Careers in the VICA World by Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus Director Engr. Ramil A. Sanchez and Summary Report Project Jobsfit 2022 by DOLE Caraga TSSD Chief Annie C. Tangpos.
The activity also showcased a talk show/open forum where the guest speakers entertained questions from the participants, some of which includes the challenges of the learners during the pandemic and the different assistance offered by the government to the students.
In his message, DOLE Caraga Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao thanked the attendees for their constant support of the activity, “I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for attending this year’s Career Advocacy Congress in Caraga Region. Your presence in this event signifies not just your interest, but most importantly your support and commitment to our shared goal to shape the future of our youth who are the future movers and shakers, the building blocks of our country, and the hope of our future. The RCAC is an initiative under the Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP). CGAP is one of DOLE’s flagship programs that provide the youth and career guidance advocates timely knowledge on the realities of the labor market and address job-skill mismatch through employment facilitation inter-mediation services.
