SURIGAO CITY – Some 51 workers and employers from various microenterprises in Surigao City joined the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office's (DOLE SDNFO) 1-day Labor and Employment Education Seminar (LEES) at the Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City.

Tandag City – To continually improve the department’s delivery of services, DOLE Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) recently conducted its Continuing Labor Education Seminar participated by 63 micro establishments from the province.

TRENTO, Agusan del Sur ---- Provincial PESO of Agusan del Sur, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga (DOLE Caraga) spearheaded the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Hiromoca Corporation as partner employer of the Provincial PESO of Agusan del Sur and DOLE Caraga for JobStart Philippines Program 2022 roll-out.

250 employees in Surigao del Sur benefited from Php 644,120.00 unpaid salaries from the routine and complaint inspections conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) as of August 31, 2022.

SURIGAO DEL SUR -- The Department of Labor and Employment - Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) released P86,020,000.00 to 38,217 Tulong Panghanapuhay Para Sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries for their 10 days of work. The salary release started from April to August 24, 2022, in various municipalities of this province. The beneficiaries received P3,500.00 for 10 days of work, following the highest prevailing minimum wage of P350.00 in Surigao del Sur.

Some twenty-three Labor Information Officers (LIOs) from the five field offices and two divisions of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga underwent News Writing Training conducted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga at Hotel Oazis, this city.

205 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries from the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) received the forty percent (40%) counterpart of DOLE on their salary amounting to Php 3,938.00 each.

Sixty-five employees and employers in Agusan del Sur underwent training on Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) for Safety Officer I at Mabe’s Savory Place, Brgy. 1, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. The participants were establishments from Low-Risk Safety Classification mostly comprised of Multi-Branches, Lending Corporation, Retail and Wholesale, Stall Meat Shop, Banking and Finance, Cooperatives and Food Products as per strict implementation of RA 1105, or the OSH Law.

Some one hundred JobStart Trainees recently completed their 10-day online Life Skills Training (LST) at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, this municipality. The trainees received Php 3,000.00 as stipend and Php 200.00 load allowance.

Some thirty-seven students from this municipality completed their employment period under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES). The “poor but deserving” students were selected among the hundreds of applicants who undertook a selection process duly conducted by the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of LGU-Cagdianao led by PESO Manager Ms. Salome M. Pegorro.

In line with the government’s campaign on the promotion of safety and health in the workplace, medium and low-risk business establishments in Surigao del Norte participated in the Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training Course for Safety Officer 1 (SO1), held on August 11-12, 2022 at E.Y. Miners Suites, Borromeo St., this City.

To expand the dissemination and importance of the fight against child labor, the Boyad Roadshow reaches another leg at New Maug Elementary School (NMES), marking the first partnership of the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) with the Department of Education Division of Agusan del Sur (DepEd-ADS).

48 security guards from Surigao del Norte are set to receive their claims for unpaid wages amounting to P3,714,425.14 pursuant to a compliance order issued by DOLE Caraga and after a series of validation conferences conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment Mediation Arbitration and Legal Services Unit (DOLE MALSU) in 2021.

In contribution to the vision of a child-labor-free country, the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) continues to exert maximum effort in assisting not only the profiled child laborers but also their parents.

In preparation for Siargao's 1st National Dragon Boat Regatta, 1,316 displaced, marginalized and disadvantaged workers were provided with emergency employment under the DOLE Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (DOLE TUPAD). The workers assisted the LGU of Dapa, Siargao headed by Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas in setting up the National Dragon Boat Regatta venue. The scope of work includes weeding the gardens of nearby schools and kiosks, repairing the riprap along the boulevard seawalls, placing the event decors, and sweeping the open grounds and streets during the 3-day event.

The Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (DOLE ADNFO) facilitated the turnover ceremony of equipment and tools amounting to P996,888.00 to the Farmers of Peace and Progress Agriculture Cooperative for their Cacao Production and Processing Project. The project aims to help improve the socio-economic status of its members and facilitate “tablea” production in the province.

One Hundred Twenty-Three (123) DOLE SPES babies from Agusan del Sur graduated this year from the different universities in the country. Sixteen (16) of which were recognized and awarded with cash incentives by the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur for graduating with Latin honors: Nine (9) Magna Cum Laude and seven (7) Cum Laude recipients — by far the batch of SPES graduates with the most Latin honors.

BUTUAN CITY – July 29, 2022. The Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (DOLE ADNFO) facilitated the payout of P6,840,750.00 to 1,303 Persons with Disability (PWD) in Brgy. Doongan Covered Court, Butuan City.

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office awarded P497,564.00 worth of livelihood aid to the Hugpong Siargao Massage Therapist Association (HSMTA) for their “Massage Supplies and Equipment” project in General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

The Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office shared the DOLE programs and services to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) employers of Agusan del Sur during a forum held last July 18, 2022 at Ernielita’s Event and Dormitel, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The forum is part of the celebration of the National MSME Week 2022 duly facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur.

On July 25, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (DOLE ADNFO) witnessed the turnover ceremony of livelihood assistance for the projects Bangus Production on High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Norwegian Fish Cage (Feed Component).

The Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) team of the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) conducted a series of advocacy awareness activities on the issues of child labor and its impact on the development of children from June 24 to July 19, 2022. As part of the 2022 Labor Day celebration, DOLE SDNFO facilitated a whole-day program for the Workers of the Informal Sector (WIS) in Siargao, Surigao del Norte.

“Without the scholarship, I would not be able to finish my studies. I will forever be grateful to DOLE,” were the words of James A. Betito, a Workers Organization and Development Program (WODP) scholar in Surigao del Norte.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has shaken the country, exposing the vulnerability in various sectors of the nation. Caraga Region took a heavy toll from the effects of the pandemic with displaced workers from different sectors continuously increasing as businesses adopted flexible working arrangements while others temporarily or permanently closes.

A total of 437 students in the province of Surigao del Norte participated in DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office’s (DOLE SDNFO) career guidance coaching for June 2022. The activities were conducted at the request of various academic institutions in the province.

True to its commitment of preventing and progressively eliminating child labor in Agusan del Sur, the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) conducted a capacity-building seminar and workshop for its newly-hired Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) advocates.

The Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) witnessed the turnover of livelihood starter kits to parents of profiled child laborers from the Municipality of Dinagat, PDI. Each parent received Bottom Set Gill Net fishing gears consisting of gill net, floaters, and ropes from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Province of Dinagat Islands Provincial Office (BFAR PDIPO).

Fifty profiled child laborers with their parents and guardians received gifts from the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) and their sponsors during a Project Angel Tree activity in Telaje Covered Court, Tandag City. The beneficiaries received ten kilos of rice, grocery items, school supplies, school bags, chocolates, and slippers, made possible by 74 benefactors.

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) released Php 24,964,800 as salaries of the 5,201 Tulong Panghanapbuhay para Displaced and Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers in Congressional Districts 1 and 2, Surigao del Norte.

The event was facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) in partnership with the Agusan del Sur Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

In celebration of the 2022 World Day Against Child Labor, the Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) through its Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) conducted a One-Day Information and Educational Campaign Against Child Labor last June 9, 2022 at Brgy. Wadas Function Hall, Municipality of Dinagat, PDI. The activity aims to raise awareness on CLPEP and its thrust to the participants.

The Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO) released livelihood starter kits to six (6) beneficiaries from the Municipality of Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands on June 13, 2022. The turnover was facilitated by DOLE PDISO Livelihood Focal Bepu Brylle Bangcoyo, together with DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) Livelihood Development Specialist Jezreel Salino.

After its successful launching in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, the Boyad Roadshow carried out its second leg in the Municipality of Rosario during the Job Fair, one of PESO Rosario’s activities in the 1st Buyawan Festival and 53rd Araw ng Rosario.

During its 2nd Quarter meeting at Watergate, Butuan City, the Caraga Regional Tripartite Industry Peace Council (CRTIPC) approved two resolutions strengthening the campaign against child labor.

With the immense drive to eliminate child labor in the province of Surigao del Norte, the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) facilitated a series of activities to celebrate the World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) with the local theme “Kapakanan at Kalagayan ng Batang Manggagawa: Sagipin, Tugunan, at Protektahan ng Bayan.”

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Sur Field Office (DOLE SDSFO) awarded livelihood assistance worth P2.9M in Madrid and Bislig, Surigao del Sur. Two associations of landless farmers in the municipality of Madrid received assistance of P1,992,768.00 on May 26, 2022: Songkit Farmers Association at P995,768.00, and Linibunan Irrigators Farmers Association at P997,000.00.

The Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (DOLE ADNFO) released Php 244,800.00 as wages to 51 Former Rebels in partnership with the 29th Infantry Batallon of Bry. Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City.

5 workers from a private establishment in the Province of Dinagat Islands received a total of P 202,639.89 in compliance to the findings of the Department of Labor and Employment after noting the underpayment of overtime pay and special holiday during an inspection conducted last March 28, 2022.

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) conducted a series of capacity buildings to several beneficiaries of livelihood assistance in the province under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

In celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL), the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) launched the Boyad Roadshow with its first leg at the heart of the province, Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center in the Capital Municipality, Prosperidad.

On June 7, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga (DOLE Caraga) forged a partnership with three Department of Health Caraga Accredited Testing Centers to administer free COVID-19 testing to newly hired jobseekers.

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) conducted an orientation on Republic Act No. 10361 or the Domestic Workers Act/ Batas Kasambahay to three (3) baranggays of Bucas Grande Socorro, Surigao del Norte on May 19, 2022.

On May 17, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (ADNFO) released P927,305.00 worth of livelihood assistance to thirty-one parents/guardians of profiled child laborers through the local government of Brgy. Bobon, Butuan City as accredited co-partner.

As the country is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) did not cease to provide assistance to displaced and affected workers of Agusan del Sur.

The Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Norte Field Office (DOLE ADNFO) conducted a back-to-back TUPAD Payout last May 5-7, 2022, releasing P13,752,000 as wages of the 2,232 TUPAD beneficiaries from the nine barangays of Tubay, Agusan del Norte and 633 TUPAD beneficiaries from the twenty-five barangays in Butuan City.

In a span of two weeks, from April 25 to May 6, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office celebrated the 120th Labor Day by conducting TUPAD Payouts and livelihood turnovers in the different municipalities in the province. A total of four million three hundred sixteen thousand and six hundred twenty pesos (Php 4,316,620.00) was awarded to one thousand one hundred and eighty-nine beneficiaries (1,189).

A total of P133,805,774 was rolled out by the Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDN) to Congressional Districts 1 & 2 (Siargao & Mainland) as salaries for SDN's displaced workers caused by the recent Super Typhoon Odette.

The Department of Labor and Employment Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) rolled out a Serbisyo Caravan in celebration of the 120th Labor Day last May 1, 2021. The event was conducted in Surigao City and Siargao Islands, with the participation of the workers and families affected by Super Typhoon Odette, together with several DOLE SDN partner agencies, PESO Managers, private establishments, and selected beneficiaries of DOLE frontline services in the province.

Last April 28, 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga together with the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Caraga-Regional Extension Unit awarded safety seal certificates to five establishments to commemorate this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Of the 520 registered job applicants, 161 were Hired-On-the-Spot (HOTS) during the Department of Labor and Employment Caraga’s 2022 Labor Day TNK Job and Business Fairs recently held at Robinsons Place Butuan.

Anchored on the theme "Matatag na Manggagawa, Matatag na Bansa", the Department of Labor and Employment in Caraga region successfully held the 2022 Trabaho, Negosyo & Kabuhayan (TNK) Job and Business Fair in celebration of the May 1, 2022 Labor Day.

As part of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) mandate to ensure the well being of workers and provide equal employment opportunities, DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office (DOLE SDNFO) continues to intensify the implementation of the Family Welfare Program (FWP) and Gender and Development in business establishments in the province.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Caraga (RTWPB Caraga) in collaboration with DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office successfully facilitated the “Usapang 2Ps: Produktibo at Pasahod, Discussion on Law on Termination and Training on 7s for Good Housekeeping Practices” on March 23, 2022, at Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City.

DOLE Caraga’s WODP Scholars Graduate Amidst Pandemic

It has been almost two months since the devastation of Super Typhoon Odette has caused a lot of Dinagatnons to lose their homes. Amongst the heavily affected were the personnel of the Department of Labor and Employment Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (DOLE PDISO).

Amid the ongoing pandemic, the department has immediately allocated funds through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantages/Displace Workers (TUPAD) to provide relief after the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Odette to hard-hit stricken provinces. One of which is the Province of Dinagat Islands.

The DOLE family demonstrated the spirit of “Bayanihan” (teamwork) by helping its personnel from DOLE Surigao del Norte Province Office and DOLE Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office after typhoon Odette hit both provinces last December 16, 2021.

7,030 typhoon Odette victims in the province of Surigao del Norte are provided with emergency employment through Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantages/ Displace Workers (TUPAD). Each worker received P 3,200.00 for a 10-day work which covers house cleaning, rebuilding homes, road cleaning, and de-clogging of canals with the total financial assistance of P 23 Million.

The Department of Labor and Employment has released over 34.2 million cash aid assistance under TUPAD Program from December 21, 2021 to January 7, 2022 to the informal workers affected by Typhoon Odette in the region.

As part of the 88th Founding Anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment, the DOLE Province of Dinagat Islands Satellite Office has conducted the Project Angel Tree 2021. The Project Angel Tree, a component of the DOLE Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program, provides an array of social services that range from food, clothing, educational assistance or school supplies, and even work and training opportunities made available by sponsors or benefactors (‘angels’) to child laborers and their families. It aims to improve the economic and social conditions of child laborers and their families and increase the number of allies and advocates of child labor prevention and elimination.

DOLE-Agusan del Sur Provincial Office facilitated the release of livelihood assistance check to Afga Diversified Farmers Association in Sibagat and Samaritan Settlers Association of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur last December 7, 2021 as part of the celebration of the 88th anniversary of the Department benefitting 133 beneficiaries. The associations were granted a total amount of 2 million pesos for their projects entitled Farm Tractor Rental Services and Abaca Fiber Production.

November 19, 2021 (DOLE Agusan del Sur Provincial Office)- 49 former workers of JB Earthmovers Inc. were compensated with a total of Php 1,495,731.09 monetary benefits through agency’s Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program.

November 02, 2021 (Surigao del Norte)- Fifty (50) pioneer Jobstarters will participate Technical Training to be faciltated by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) from November 3, 2021 to December 2, 2021.

Seven (7) displaced workers of a beverage warehouse company in Butuan City successfully received their final pay claims through the intervention of DOLE – Agusan del Norte Provincial Office under the DOLE Single Entry Approach (SENA) program.

October 12, 2021 – 100 youths recently completed the 10-day Life Skills Training (LST), a component of the JobStart Philippines program of the Department of Labor and Employment. The graduates received their certificates during the completion ceremony held on 12 October 2021 in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

October 8, 2021 – Fifty seven (57) Home-based Workers benefited from DOLE Caraga’s financial assistance amounting to P800,000.00 for the establishment of Fitness, Sports Training and Development Gym in Magallanes, Agusan del Norte.

October 5, 2021 – Over a thousand informal sector and displaced workers received financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Caraga region during the visit of Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” H. Bello III.
