SRO-CARP Project Extends Assistance to Other Worker’s Associations in the Agrarian Reform Community

 

 

Surigao del Norte- SRO-CARP project purveys its assistance to 18 newly organized and reorganized associations in Barangay San Isidro, Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte.

SRO-CARP Project is a program implemented only in six regions in the country. It is a special project of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that seeks to empower agrarian reform beneficiaries expecting to increase overall productivity and general incomes.

As one of the project components, the workers’ associations underwent various capacity building activities conducted by the SRO-CARP Community Facilitator. These include the following programs: 1. Orientation on Basic Financial Management and Simple Bookkeeping while Imparting the Importance of Women’s Participation in the Financial Aspect of the Organization; 2. Empowering Women and Youth participation in an organization and Gender Sensitivity Seminar; 3.    Seminar on Good Governance and Orientation on Labor Laws and Other Related Issuance; 4.    Orientation on DOLE’s Kabuhayan Program and Workshop on Business Proposal and Business Plan Making.

The newly organized associations registered under the DOLE’s OURS Program is being supervised and monitored by the SRO-CARP Project's chosen ARBO, the San Isidro Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SIMPUCO). These are the following organizations: San Isidro Women’s Association; Sico-Sico GWAFA Women’s Association; Lahi Women’s Association; Villafranca GWAFA Women’s Association; Alambique Deseret Women’s Association; Camam-onan Women’s Association; Ipil New Normal Women’s Association; Resourceful Women’s Association of Villaflor; Anibongan Women’s Association; Camboayon Women’s Association; Mahanub Women’s Association; Poniente Empowerment Women’s Association; San Antonio Women’s Association; SIMPUCO Farmers Association; Dalit Small Farmers Association (Registration ongoing); Camam-onan Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Association; San Isidro FisherFolks Association (Registration ongoing; DSPAR Farmers Association (Registration ongoing).

More than P270,000.00 was invested for capacity building activities to promote increased productivity and generate income.

The activities were conducted in preparation for the provision of livelihood program of DOLE which aims to remove the select associations below the poverty threshold.
