DOLE Caraga warns public of unauthorized solicitation for Marawi Crisis

With the current crisis in Marawi, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned the public to be wary of extortionists that resorted to conducting unauthorized solicitations.

Secretary Silvestre Bello III issued a memorandum after receiving reports that certain unscrupulous individual is using his name to appeal for cash donations for the victims of Marawi crisis.

As such, all officials and employees are advised that appeal for cash and/ or donation in kind is formalized through a memorandum issued by authorized representative of the Secretary. Further, please be warned that the Secretary did not give any instruction to any individual to ask for cash donations through text message or call DOLE officials and employees in his behalf.

Should anyone knock on anyone’s doors, send e-mails or text messages, for the purpose of asking donations for a hoax cash donation for Marawi you report to the nearest National Bureau of Investigation or to the Philippine National Police in your area.
