DOLE Caraga in coordination with TESDA and DSWD conducted Skills Training on Bangus Deboning, Relyenong Bangus and Fish Ball Production to celebrate this year's National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week with the theme “MAKING RIGHTS REAL FOR FILIPINOS WITH DISABILITY” at the Holy Trinity College Inc. a private educational institution accredited by DSWD and TESDA on July 26, 2011.
Fifteen (15) differently-abled persons (8 females and 7 males) were very enthusiastic at acquiring skills in bangus deboning and fish ball production. They spoke of their gratitude to DOLE for this opportunity to start a small business rather than to stay in the streets to ask for alms.
RD Domingo said that the trained PWDs will be given starter kits which include tools, utensils and initial capital to start small business. This is part of the DOLE's commitment at the Regional Development Council to help improve the plight of the PWDs who have the capacity and willingness to work. "Let us continue to uphold the rights and interest of our disadvantaged workers especially the ones who have disability by helping them acquire decent living", she said.
DOLE CARAGA is thankful to TESDA for its full support in terms of the training facilitation, to DSWD for identifying the trainees and for the venue which was free of charge (by Luth Longos).
